I hate hate HATE being in Huddersfield. The house and uni just put me in a god awful mood from the moment I get here, and no one cares. People who are supposed to care just forget about me as soon as I leave, and carry on with that until I get home. What’s the point?

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Just went to see this film in Huddersfield (primarily to get away from the dreadful condition that is my rented student house..) and it’s really good! The cast is amazing, including stars Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith (my favourite!) and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionnaire). The story is a group of British retirees who elope out to an attractive looking hotel for the “elderly and...
I only ever seem to blog when I’m in Huddersfield, I hope it doesn’t stop when I move back home.
I don’t understand why people feel the need to complain about other people’s music tastes. I don’t go around saying metal is shit, or dubstep is shit; I just accept it’s not my taste. So back off and quit bitching about various artists for no reason.
I’m also looking forward to my Brits awards and pancake day party tomorrow :D
I realise I didn’t actually continue my diary in Rome. I got a little caught up in the excitement of being there, and simply enjoying my last couple of days alone with Sam. It really is a beautiful city, I’ll put photos up sometime soon (once I decide which ones to include..)
Other than that, there’s simply too much exciting stuff going on at the moment. The Evolution festival...

iTunes is trying to charge me the same price for an ebook as the actual copy. In fact, I could probably get it cheaper in Smiths. What a total rip off.
I’m going to see the woman in black tonight.
Day four
We didn’t get the bus. We asked about the services at reception and you need to get the 32 over to the Vatican city and then get the metro, I think? Not all the staff speak Italian, but they always make sure they get someone who can help you. So, rather than get lost, we got a taxi to the Trevi fountain (€12 at half ten, seems fair) and wandered around the city once again. The Pantheon is...
A belated valentines update
Today was Valentine’s day, and I’ve had the most wonderful time. We went for another three hour walk to a park not far from here, then we came back to the hotel and had a bit of wine. Fleming is fairly uninspiring; although there are a few lovely buildings, some nice shops and a pedestrian bridge not far where you can buy and write on a padlock. I wouldn’t recommend spending...

Day two
The plan today was to have a nice walk down the river to castle s’angelo then across to the Vatican city. I forgot to get us entry passes before we came, which was silly because now I have no printer and it is a stupid idea to just go on the day, trust me. Three hour queues? No thanks. My room was cleaned today, something that people on tripadvisor said didn’t happen here. I really...

Rome
Ive decided being a travel journalist is my dream because travelling is awesome and I’m doing a journalism course so I should probably go for someone relevant afterwards. Here, and for the next 5 days, is my travel journal. Enjoy.
Day one in beautiful Rome. Well, I say day one. By this I mean a day of travelling; I woke up at 415am and I’ve just showered and settled into some nice...
People always die when I go on holiday, it was Amy Winehouse when I went to Ireland and Whitney Houston now I’m on my way to Rome.. Suspicious..

This summer is going to be SO good.
Already planned:
June 3rd & 4th - Evolution Festival (Newcastle)
June 18th - 26th - Tenerife
July - Whale watching & climbing in Scotland
August bank holiday - Leeds Fest!
Then Rome in precisely five days, and hopefully a quick trip to Germany in November! I’m so lucky. :)
I hate presentations. Specially when your tutor looks unimpressed. And it’s marked. And your whole class is there.. And it’s filmed. Ace.
Pocket autopsy
I wonder if I could make an assignment out of this? I’m thinking through approaching different people in the music industry (anyone will do) and asking them to empty their pockets I might get an interesting piece. This will be three separate pieces which goes into one portfolio. Either I could be boring and do it on the decline of the record industry because of downloading or how record...
Why am I such a social pariah? It’s getting depressing.
Sure, I’m paying more than three grand a year for this course but you put on an hour long video and leave us to it. Cheers for the experience, I couldn’t just do this at home after all…
I dont even need your love
but you treat me like a stranger,
and that feels so...

Chronicle
So I just went to see that new film Chronicle (dubbed ‘the next Cloverfield’ by someone somewhere) and.. wasn’t that impressed. The idea was good, and it was set up and followed through well. But it was just too short! Overall I was in the cinema an hour and a half, with the film adding up to a meager 83 minutes of that. 83 minutes?! I could have done with a lot more. For a...

I didn’t get the job.
It’s my birthday in four days. I’ll be twenty. Does not feel right at all..
I love travelling, maybe I could become a travel journalist.
All the stress of Uni and a full time job has finally made me ill. Fortunately my wonderful wonderful boyfriend took my shift today, and now he’s having to work a 12 hour shift because I was on the early and he was already on the late. Such a babe. So I’m still in bed, about to get up and journey towards Huddersfield for a full day of working. Really not looking forward to this. First...

One of the only positives to come out of the X Factor this year was Little Mix winning. This isn’t because they have extreme talent or are going to do anything particularly interesting in the music world but because 20 year-old Jesy Nelson seemed comfortable with her weight. She never was massive and yet people goaded on her insecurities and, through endless ridicule and torture, have...

50/50
This is easily one of the most heart wrenching films I’ve ever seen. I want to say more about it but I can’t; it’s making me cry too much!
Okay update!
I’m ready to write more, now I’ve gotten over the original feelings. It’s a brilliant film. The portrayal of the difficulties with friends, family and co workers surrounding a disease as sensitive and deadly...

These people on Masterchef are far too skinny to enjoy food as much as I clearly do..
“You are now eating the whole dish Mr Wallace”
Why waste it I say? My dream job would be to be a food critic.
Huddersfield
Okay so I’m currently feeling like poo about being at University. I’ve lost a lot of friends, which my tutors said we all would by the end of the course but I didn’t want to believe it, and I’ve made a few others.. Learnt to live with people (the most difficult thing I’ve ever done), grown up a lot and learnt loads. But it just doesn’t feel worth it at the...

I love this! →
I got a lovely little present from a tutor before Christmas in the form of 23 sheets from rockbackpageslibrary. These 23 sheets are 4 very long and more often than not very boring articles. Two of them I would extend towards calling enjoyable; both written by Mick Farren (NME) in the 1970’s. Unfortunately he’s a little out of my time, but I understand all the references and at least...

Unfortunately I’m starting to see where my tutor was coming from when he said my writing was too short. I guess I do use a lot of short sentences, broken up with lots of commas ;), but I like it.. So who’s he to say otherwise?? Well apparently he’s the ‘top music journalist in the country’ but I’m sure it’s a subject that’s up for mucho debate.

So, like I said, I went to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo last night. It’s so good! Daniel Craig is average as ever, he’s a good actor but was seriously outshined by the girl who played Lisbeth. It’s just a very good film that I would recommend to anyone.
Looking forward to seeing The Woman In Black next, I think.
